Katie Wells performs what she calls Conscious Dance Theatre: an interdisciplinary art form that inspires the inner growth of its audience. Her dance experience spans most of her 40 years. A contemporary dance artist, professor, yoga practitioner, and founder of Interweave Conscious Movement, she earned an MFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a BA from Columbia College, Chicago, both with a major in Dance and a minor in Theatre. Katie performed in works by renowned choreographers Shirley Mordine, David Dorfman, and Joe Goode, and her own dances accompanied symphony orchestras as well as the bands Lobo Marino, Leftover Salmon, and Desert Dwellers. She directed and created numerous productions, and also toured Europe with her solo improvisations.
An experienced teacher, Katie created Interweave Conscious Movement, designing seven embodied courses while raising a family in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Her spirited curricula develop an inner sensing of the body, advance improvisational skills, and evolve patterns of moving, thinking, and behaving.
